Defenders' Day 2026

Join us on September 11-13, 2026, to celebrate Defenders’ Day. Celebrated since 1815, Defenders’ Day is Baltimore’s oldest holiday! It is a time to honor the successful defense of the city from British attack in 1814 and the writing of the national anthem.
Visitors can help raise the “Star-Spangled Banner” over the fort, listen to the roar of drums and cannons, and learn how the actions and sacrifices of soldiers, sailors, and civilians throughout Fort McHenry's history helped build and protect the United States. Discover how their stories continue to inspire Americans today.
From a parade through the Locust Point neighborhood to special ranger programs and living history demonstrations, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Bring your family and friends for a day of history, music, fun, and fireworks!
