8th Annual Billie Holiday Jazz in the Square Concert

Join us for an afternoon of music and community as we enjoy the sounds of talented jazz musicians honoring the legendary Billie Holiday.
This FREE in-person event features renowned Peabody Jazz instructors Nasar Abadey, Charanée Wade, Richard D. Johnson, Kris Funn, & Special Guest Justin Mendez, along with food, vendors, and community resources for everyone to enjoy!
St. James Episcopal Church will feature an exhibition from 2-6pm inside the historic worship space that chronicles the 200-year history of the oldest African American Episcopal Church in the Southern United States. Church members will also be present at the St. James table within our Community Resources Row for more information on the congregation.

Metropolitan UMC will be open for the “Met Museum” Open House from 3pm-5pm. The Met Museum features artifacts and mini-exhibitions from early history of Metropolitan UMC, as well as its “mother” church, Orchard Street UMC, United Methodist church life and history, Black Baltimore civic and political history and general African American history and culture. A few committee members will be on hand to give tours, pass out Homecoming Celebration flyers and information about the church’s history. MUMC’s Homecoming Celebration is happening the next day, Sunday, September 13, so please mark your calendars so that you can attend or share with your networks.
