A timely geo-economics talk on why today’s world feels dazed and confused, and how global power and markets are being reshaped.
About this Event

In an era of growing uncertainty and global upheaval, award-winning journalist and author Gillian Tett will examine why today’s world feels increasingly 'dazed and confused', as economics, geopolitics, and technology become ever more deeply intertwined. She will explore how global power, markets, and long-standing assumptions about the global economic system are being reshaped, and how the rapid rise of artificial intelligence is transforming decision-making, institutions, and societies.
Held in celebration of International Women’s Day, this timely talk will also highlight the importance of women’s leadership and expertise in navigating complexity and shaping more resilient global futures.

Speaker

In 2023, Gillian Tett was elected to serve as Provost to King’s College, Cambridge.
Gillian also writes weekly columns covering economic, financial, political, and social issues for the US Financial Times and is the co-founder of FT Moral Money, a newsletter that tracks the ESG revolution in business and finance.
From 2013 to 2019, Tett was the FT’s US Managing Editor, also serving as Assistant Editor for the FT’s markets coverage, Capital Markets Editor, Deputy Editor of the Lex column, Tokyo Bureau Chief and Correspondent, London-based economics reporter and a reporter in Russia and Brussels.
Before joining the FT, Gillian was awarded a PhD in Social Anthropology from Cambridge and in 2024, was awarded an OBE for her services to journalism.
