About this Event

Hosted by the Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies

Date & Time: Monday 9 March, 6:00 PM

Location: Junior Parlour (Opposite the main College gate)

Join us at the Junior Parlour at Trinity College, Cambridge, for the book launch of Ways of Seeing: Orthodox Spirituality for our Modern World by the Revd Dr Nevsky Everett.

The Book invites readers into the vibrant and lived experience of Orthodox spirituality. Through thoughtful chapters that explore key elements of the tradition, readers will encounter fresh perspectives on God, self, and the world. Moving beyond superficial exoticism to reveal the deep wisdom Orthodoxy offers for contemporary faith and practice, it will be an ideal resource for anyone seeking to engage with the enduring beauty and relevance of Orthodox spirituality.

Revd Dr Nevsky Everett is a Research Fellow at IOCS and the Chaplain of the Church of the Resurrection and the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Apokrisarios to the Romanian Orthodox Patriarchate. He was previously the Chaplain of Keble College, Oxford, during which time he completed his doctorate at SOAS, University of London. His PhD explored the contemporary theological currents underlying a homily of Isaac of Nineveh on the Cross. He has been involved with a range of ecumenical bodies since his ordination, particularly in connection with the Church of England’s relationships with the Oriental Orthodox and Eastern Orthodox churches. Since coming to Romania, Fr Nevsky has developed a love for all things Romanian. In his spare time is translating the short stories and sketches of Transylvanian life by the Greek-Catholic priest and writer, Ion Agârbiceanu.

Structure of the day:

  • 6.00 pm - Welcome (2-3 mins)
  • Author talk (15-20 mins)
  • Response/questions from respondent, Fr Dragos Herescu (Principal IOCS) (10-15 mins)
  • Open Q&A (20-25 mins)
  • Close with refreshments
