Choral Evensong and Lamentations of Jeremiah

St. John's, Lafayette Square offers a service of Choral Evensong on Wednesday in Holy Week. The service will feature the deeply moving Lamentations of Jeremiah by Thomas Tallis alongside the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis from Thomas Tomkins' Fifth Service, accompanied by viol consort. These exquisite Renaissance works invite us into the mystery and sorrow of Holy Week, reflecting on the lament of Jerusalem.

The St. John's Choir and Choristers sing Evensong on the third Wednesday of most months from September through May, beginning at 5:30 p.m. and followed by a wine and cheese reception.
