About this Event
The Italian Cultural Institute of Washington presents "ORA. The limits of the planet", an animation project for videomapping and soundtrack, directed by Francesca Pasquinucci and Davide Giannoni of Imaginarium Studio, with the original music composition by Davide Giannoni, played by pianist Giorgio Martano.
This extraordinary multimedia presentation addresses themes linked to climate change, loss of environment awareness, and the harmonious relationship between Space and Earth.
"ORA. The limits of the planet" is a photograph of contemporaneity and, at the same time, an open artistic adventure. This visual and sound experience allows the spectator to interpret freely the efficacy and impact of human actions on their present, their future, and the future of generations to come. The video mapping and soundtrack engage in real-time with the pianist on stage, telling a story about the historical, scientific, and philosophical links between humans and Nature, with a profound emotional effect.

ABOUT IMAGINARIUM
IMAGINARIUM, a Tuscan studio active since 2011, awarded in 2018 as Italian Excellence for Art by the Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles and the Iacc Italy - America Chamber of Commerce West, deals with set design and visual arts for classical and pop music and opera. It is directed by DAVIDE GIANNONI and FRANCESCA PASQUINUCCI, who, after their musical, literary, artistic and theatrical studies, developed their research by focusing on the interaction between traditional material arts and digital arts, turning their interest to videomapping as a tool for narration and the creation of dreamlike spaces, finding in it a further device for the study and evolution of their surreal style, anchored in the rules of poetry.
ABOUT DAVIDE GIANNONI
Davide Giannoni is a professor of orchestra, graduated in double bass at the Conservatorio Luigi Boccherini in Lucca. A scholar of animation technology, he specialises in the development of creative artistic content for live performances and multimedia installations.
ABOUT FRANCESCA PASQUINUCCI
Francesca Pasquinucci is an illustrator. She graduated in History of Theatre at the University of Pisa, with a specialisation on the theatricality and history of show design in pop rock music, and then continued her in-depth studies on opera and the history and techniques of digital scenography, which she still merges with traditional drawing techniques and material scenography.
Their need to combine storytelling and visual expression has led them to realise scenography projects, coordinated image projects, videogames, multimedia installations, for some of the most important Italian theatres and opera festivals, for classical musicians and artists from the pop scene (Universal Music Italy, Virgin Music).
They actively collaborate with Italian Embassies and Italian Cultural Institutes around the world, exporting projects of material and digital visual art, and in 2022 they are the visual artists in residence of the FESTIVAL PAAX, the 1st festival of classical music and art of the Riviera Maya in Mexico, directed by Maestra Alondra de la Parra. IN 2023 they are the artists responsible for the legendary opening concert of Wien Festwochen, under the artistic direction of pianist-composer Hyung - ki Joo.
ABOUT GIORGIO MARTANO
Giorgio Martano graduated with full marks and honors in piano at the “T. Schipa” Conservatory in Lecce under the guidance of M° Francesca Mammana and continued his studies in Parma with the two-year teaching diploma at the “A. Boito” Conservatory under M° Renato Principe, and in Como at the “G. Verdi” Conservatory in the harpsichord class of M° Giovanni Togni, achieving both specializations with top marks and honors. From the beginning of his studies, he combined his solo career with piano accompaniment, with a particular preference for the operatic repertoire. This led him, in 2012, to attend the advanced course for collaborative pianists at the Teatro alla Scala Academy in Milan and in 2015, the first edition of the Riccardo Muti Academy.
In June 2012, he won the audition for collaborative pianists at the Teatro Sociale di Como, where he worked for the OperaLombardia season and all the projects promoted by the Aslico association until 2021. During this time, he was the official pianist for five editions of the Aslico Competition between 2017 and 2021, as well as for masterclasses with internationally renowned artists such as Gregory Kunde, Sonia Ganassi, Barbara Frittoli, Michele Pertusi, Roberto De Candia, Fiorenza Cedolins, Alfonso Antoniozzi, and many others.
In 2015, he won the audition for collaborative pianists at the Teatro Verdi Foundation in Trieste, where he worked as a répétiteur in the 2015-16 opera season. He regularly complements his activities with international collaborations, such as with the Stanislavskij Theatre in Moscow between 2014 and 2017, and in 2016 at the Lyric Opera Studio in Weimar as a coach for the Italian operatic repertoire. He also participated as a collaborative pianist in several productions at the Royal Opera House in Muscat, as part of the Aslico projects for educational opera, and in the 2016 inauguration of the Dubai Opera House in collaboration with the Teatro Verdi in Trieste.
After initial experiences with the choir at the Teatro Sociale di Como, from 2021 he has held the position of Assistant Chorus Master at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan alongside M° Alberto Malazzi, collaborating on productions conducted by maestros such as Riccardo Chailly, Fabio Luisi, Nicola Luisotti, Diego Fasolis, Lorenzo Viotti, Evelino Pidò, Giampaolo Bisanti, Pablo Heras-Casado, and many others. Within the La Scala programming, he continues to combine his work as a choir preparer with his activity as a pianist, as in the case of Les Noces by Stravinsky, conducted in 2022 by Koen Kessel, and the Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini, conducted by Alberto Malazzi in 2023 for the 77th anniversary of the reconstruction of the Teatro alla Scala.
