Join award-winning visual storytellers Wayne Campbell and Wayne Crichlow as they launch Carnival of Resistance—a landmark photography book capturing the spirit, creativity and enduring legacy of one of Britain's most important cultural celebrations.
This family-friendly celebration brings the energy of Carnival to Brixton with live performances throughout the day, including a Reggae Choir, steel pan performers, Carnival dancers, DJs and special guests.
Photographed over the past fifteen years by visual activists Wayne Campbell and Wayne Crichlow, Carnival of Resistance traces Carnival from Panorama to J'ouvert, Mas to sound systems. These photographs are far more than an archive—they are a living record of Carnival as it is experienced today, rooted in resistance, culture and community.
Featuring powerful contributions from leading cultural voices including Mykaell Riley, Ishmahil Blagrove and Ansel Wong, this beautifully produced volume marks the first collaboration between Campbell and Crichlow and celebrates the 60th anniversary of Notting Hill Carnival.
