(blank) Experimental Film Festival 2026

As part of a partnership with the BIDEODROMO International Experimental Film and Video Festival in Spain, (blank) Experimental Film Festival launches its first edition dedicated to avant-garde cinema. It will present experimental works across three categories: regional standouts, student-made films, and films rarely or never-before-seen. The festival will run on 19th September 2026 at 10square.

The Festival will boast 21 films from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Spain. Talks are organised alongside programme partners The Substation and NTU School Of Art, Design and Media to expand an appreciation for experimental works. Speakers include internationally-esteemed guests like Koen de Rooij (International Film Festival Rotterdam) and Qila Gill (Berlinale, BFI London Film Festival Experimenta). Local stars include Daniel Hui, Chew Tze Chuan and Nelson Yeo as part of a panel exploring experimental film in Singapore. A Festival Village is also curated for community experience.

Following the Festival, select films from the Main category will be exhibited at BIDEODROMO 2026, and the same for the Student category to be showcased at University of Basque County. Part of the "Exhumed" category will be curated at the Guggenheim (Bilbao), all part of the cultural exchange spotlighting Southeast Asian works to European and international audiences. You will be viewing these works first, at Singapore's only experimental film festival.
