Arm Balance Workshop
FRIDAY | AUGUST 28 | 6:30-8:30p
$35
Arm balances are liberating postures that teach us not only about our intrinsic power but about our innate playfulness, courage, fearlessness and agility. If you have fear or discomfort when attempting (or avoiding) arm balances, this workshop is for you.
During this exploratory arm balance workshop, we will systematically prepare the body for a variety of arm balances including crow, crane, one-legged crow, side crow, one-legged side crow, and fallen angel. You’ll learn how to thoroughly prepare the wrists, shoulders, core, and hips to find structural stability and strengthas well as utilize subtle energy of the poses as we learn how we can use breath, Drishti (gaze), and physics to bring balance and sustainability.
After warming the body through a flow, there will be time to experiment and play with these postures using props, one-on-one attention, and partner work before we finish class with an integrative Savasana.
Embrace play, power, and presence in this engaging workshop for people new to arm balances or are looking to layer on more variations into their practice.
Julia Britzius is an E-RYT with training in Mobility, Somatics, and Dance. She believes in the power of yoga as a pathway to deeper connection to self, which includes embracing physicality, experimentation, and PLAY!
