A gentle stroll around a less-visited part of the Country Park in search of summer butterflies; might include Silver-washed Fritillary.
About this Event

Brasenose Woods is a less visited part of Shotover Country Park, which is managed by Oxford City Council. It is an extensive woodland with areas of grassland, heath and ponds, and lies to the east of Oxford in the valley bottom.

We will explore the area, looking for summer butterflies and day-flying moths. We hope to find both White Admiral and Silver-washed Fritillary, and will have the chance to discuss their status and management.

Accessibility & risks: Some steep slopes with plenty of trip hazards. Can be slippery and muddy when wet. Please check for ticks after the walk and let the leader know if you have picked up any ticks.

Booking Required: Please check here the evening before the walk to make sure it is going ahead as planned. This page will be updated regularly.

Meet at Brasenose Farm allotments car park. Please note this is not the main Shotover car park and that this is only accessible from the southbound carriageway of the Oxford Eastern Bypass.
