About this Event

Emetophobia (the fear of vomit and vomiting) is a common mental health phenomenon that can cause significant distress and impairment. It is diagnostically complex and can occur on its own or as part of another mental health concern such as OCD, social anxiety, ARFID, or disordered eating. This three-hour workshop will cover common presentations of emetophobia, review tools for assessment, and provide multiple evidence-based intervention strategies to reduce symptoms and mitigate their impact on daily life. Diverse case examples will be presented throughout. Learning objectives include:

1. Identify presentations of emetophobia across different diagnostic concerns

2. Explain the roles of avoidance, cognitive processes, and safety behaviors in the maintenance of emetophobic symptoms

3. Create interoceptive, imaginal, and in vivo exposures to address emetophobia
