Achilles Pain in Speed-Based Athletes
About this Event
In this seminar, presented by Peter Horobin, we will explore the relationship between Achilles pain, running biomechanics and lower-limb force production in footballers, sprinters and other speed-based athletes.
A brief overview of Achilles tendinopathy and other posterior heel pain differentials will be presented, with the bulk of the lecture focusing on how Achilles dysfunction influences high-speed running mechanics, alongside practical approaches to profiling and rehabilitation.
Topics include:
- Achilles tendinopathy and posterior heel pain differentials
- High-speed running biomechanics
- The effects of tendinopathy on running mechanics, strength and elastic qualities
- Objective profiling using VALD systems
- Monitoring rehabilitation progress
- Practical rehabilitation frameworks for speed-based athletes

Strength & conditioning coaches, physiotherapists, sports therapists and clinicians working with running and sprint-based athletes.
