About this Event
4 WEEK SERIES | Thursdays, June 6 - June 20, 2024 - 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Led by Chris Bayless, LPC, RYT-200; Co-Led by Sally Williams, MA, RYT-200

Anxiety, the great equalizer! So many of us understand the experience. This series will teach you about various shared elements of the human experience of anxiety, including the neurobiology at play, and introduce yogic tools and practices that can increase self-understanding and self-compassion, help with regulating and healing the HPA axis, and increase vagal tone to calm stress and anxiety in a low-pressure, low-engagement community setting.
This is a trauma-informed practice and modifications will be offered to suit differences in comfort levels and needs. Practitioners of all levels are welcome, and no previous yoga experience is necessary. Please bring a mat if you have one, or email the facilitators to borrow a mat at no extra cost. The class fee includes an eye pillow for you to keep, an informational packet with clinical information and yogic practices for you to refer to and make notes on, and continued access to class audio recordings so that you can follow along with the practices at home once the class has concluded.
ABOUT THE TEACHERS:
I have been working in the counseling profession for more than 20 years. The impact this work has made on my life is vast. The privilege of being able to witness the human experience, as I have, has had a profound effect on my life. Thru my twists and turns, I came to believe that helpers are most effective when they use treatments that integrate the mind and body-such as yoga and yoga nidra. As someone who has managed auto-immune disorders and chronic pain throughout life, I have turned toward many modalities, alternative treatments and daily rituals to help keep my body feeling well. I will never tell you I have all the right answers or all the right cures, however by letting you know that I come from a place of "understanding" I find that our working relationship is that much richer and hopefully results in you feeling less alone in whatever journey of healing you may be on. I received the Trauma-Sensitive Yoga certification and Overcoming Anxiety certification from Sundara Yoga Therapy in Austin, TX in 2013. Practicing trauma-informed yoga and Yoga Nidra in correctional facilities and with underserved populations inspired me to get my Masters in Contemplative Psychotherapy and Buddhist Psychology from Naropa in 2017. After graduating, I provided psychotherapy and therapeutic yoga to people transitioning out of J*il and Pr*son. After having my own kids, I transitioned to working with new parents, people with complex trauma and c-PTSD, and adults with ADHD.
