Nestled on 23 wooded acres, the Museum is located in the farmland of Hillsboro. In addition to petrified wood, it houses a world-class collection of minerals, rocks, gems, fossils, and meteorites. The main building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its unique mid-century modern style, natural stonework, and use of myrtlewood and quilted maple throughout. A Smithsonian Affiliate, the Museum is one of only three in Oregon to hold this designation.
