People's Bookshop in association with the North East Folklore Society and Carnyx Press is delighted to host a panel of guests discussing the contemporary resurgence of interest in folklore and folkloric writing.
Our panellists are Kym Deyn, poet, weird fiction writer, and recently selected Jerwood Fellow of New Writing North, who will be launching and reading from their debut poetry collection, folkish -- a Poetry Book Society Recommendation. They will be joined by Nathaniel Spain, a writer of short fiction, winner of the British Fantasy Society's short story competition (2025) and the editor of Carnyx Press, a new micropress of speculative fiction based in Newcastle.
Doors open at 6.30, the event starts at 7pm, and finishes at 9-ish. As always, drinks and nibbles are included in the cost of a ticket, which is currently unaffected by the cost of oil so still just £5!
