Wood for You and Your Community Workshop
About this Event
Throughout the Appalachian Mountains, wood is a thriving, abundant resource. While individual timber processing is highly economical on its own, its true value is unlocked when the community partners with local producers to meet their material needs.
Join NC State Extension Forestry on August 4th as we explore the ins and outs of utilizing wood in and around your community as an opportunity for a small business. We will share expert knowledge about portable sawmill and firewood production operations. We will also highlight other opportunities for wood utilization.
The event will start on the morning of August 4th at 8 am at the Watauga County Extension office. The morning will focus on building a strong technical background. After lunch, we will head into the field to see two live operations in action and acquire more practical insight into the everyday processes that make the business successful. The workshop will conclude at 4 pm.
The cost for the workshop is $25. This includes lunch and transportation to and from the field portion of the workshop.
