Born right here in Boone, family owned and operated, Come Back Shack has built its reputation on doing things a little differently. Fresh-never-frozen beef, hand-cut Idaho potato fries, all-natural chicken, homemade sauces, pickles, ranch, pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes (and the list keeps going). No shortcuts, no freezers, just real food made with care.

Dining Days is our favorite kind of community collaboration: you eat, local businesses shine, and animals receive care. Hosted mostly on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month, these gatherings turn ordinary meals into meaningful impact, with a portion of sales supporting Watauga Humane Society. It’s simple, joyful, and rooted in connection, so check the schedule, bring a friend, order dessert (obviously), and let your dinner do a little good while you’re at it.
