Wildlife After Dark! Family-friendly nocturnal wildlife tour
About this Event
Set off on a spotlight safari to search for possums, gliders, koalas... and other little critters whose eye shine in the dark!
Setting out right on dusk, we will make 1km circuit along paved paths through the natural forest areas of the Botanic Garden. We will use a UV torch to reveal the brilliant fluorescence of flowers, lichen and insects. Pausing along the way, we will learn how the wild creatures live, what they eat and why they make such strange noises in the dark.
This is an all ages, family-friendly tour. All children must attend with an adult who is responsible for their supervision and care. Bring torches and insect repellant and please wear enclosed shoes.
WEATHER: The tour will go ahead if there are passing showers. We will use paved walking paths and raised boardwalks, which are safe even in very wet conditions. Please bring an umbrella, rain jacket and enclosed footwear with good grip. If there is steady rain or high winds, the tour will be canceled. Participants will be advised of cancelation by email by 9am on the day of the tour. If you don't receve an email, the tour will be going ahead.
