Bird Language & Recording at the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden

Join is for a bird language and recording workshop at the The Nature Discovery Centre in the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden.

What sound adventures await? Maybe a chance to try some field-recording, learn some deep listening skills, and find out a bit more about the habits of many bird species in the trees of Coffs.

We will cover how to set up mics & audio recording equipment to capture bird calls and how to create spectrograms that provide visual representations of various bird calls.

This fun and explorative workshop runs over 3 hours combining overview of the various calls of local species of bird, observations, recording and editing.

Abut the The Nature Discovery Centre

The Nature Discovery Centre is a space to learn about and connect with the natural world. The ‘outdoor classroom’ is designed for experiential learning, featuring a native food, fibre, and habitat garden, a native beehive, an insect hotel, a potting station and a fireside seating circle. The beautiful building is a fully equipped, modern and accessible classroom with interactive displays and learning resources to support active engagement with local biodiversity. School and community groups can book the Nature Discovery Centre for their own purposes, or can arrange a guided program with our educator for a small fee.
