A free event for anyone in the volunteer community supported by BBOWT
About this Event

This free walk is for anyone who volunteers to look after nature in Berks, Bucks and Oxon. Whether you volunteer at a BBOWT site, with a local group or at home campaigning for nature. Please join us to learn more about wildflowers, and to meet other like-minded volunteers.

We will look at the wildflowers in the park and in the adjacent Lye Valley. The walk will be led by Dr Karen van Oostum who is passionate and knowledgeable about wildflowers. Karen is a Biology graduate of Oxford University, was Head of Education at Cambridge University Botanic Garden and now delivers introductory courses in Botany, and supports the teaching of plant science in Primary Schools.

We will meet the carpark at Cowley Marsh Park in the urban area of East Oxford. The walk will cover about 3 miles at a slow pace with lots of stops to look at the flowers which we find along the way. Please wear shoes and clothes suitable for the weather, bring any refreshments which you need and be aware that there are no toilet facilities on site.
