A fun day workshop suited to complete beginners. Experiment and explore wet felt-making with a variety of wool and plant fibres. Learn how to use carders and other techniques to make a colourful textural felted picture.
Lots of samples of felt making to look at in my studio, where the class is based. We start with a practical demonstration of felt-making, an exploration of all the different wool and plant fibres that I have available for you to use.
Then you can make a felted wool picture, a seascape, landscape, floral or go abstract. Select from a wide choice of gorgeous coloured wools, plant fibres and textural yarns. Explore blending and mixing wool colours and different types of fibres together. Learn about the differing properties of wool and plant fibres. Try embedding wool/plant fibres and yarns into the felted surface to create texture and form in your felted picture.
The workshop is held in Josephine's studio in the Birchcliffe Centre, a converted chapel nestled near woodland in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.
Small class max. of 6 places. Suitable for all, especially beginners.
Teas, coffee and biscuits. There is free car park, a Railway station and a regular bus service which stops right outside the Birchcliffe centre. The Centre is a fully accessible building.
