Through instructor demonstrations and guided practice, students will explore how water, pigment, paper, and technique work together while creating a watercolor techniques and textures sampler to take home and use as a future reference.
You’ll experiment with washes, blending, layering, texture, expressive effects, and water control before bringing everything together in a small guided painting at the end of class.
Students will learn:
• How water, pigment, and watercolor paper work together
• Flat and graduated washes
• Basic brush techniques
• Wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry blending
• Building transparent layers for depth and dimension
• Lifting, feathering, and removing pigment
• Preserving white space
• Controlling water and pigment
• Creating texture with techniques including splatter, salt, alcohol, and more
• Combining techniques to create a finished watercolor painting
No supplies needed!
Cecelia will provide watercolor paints, brushes, paper, materials for texture techniques, a detailed class handout, and a watercolor technique sampler. Light refreshments will also be provided.
This workshop is perfect for complete beginners, hobbyists wanting to refresh their skills, or anyone who has been curious about watercolor and wants a welcoming place to experiment and learn.
