About this Event
This event will cover the topics of sustainability and circularity and demonstrate that sustainable interventions can also be cost saving interventions that benefit profitability and the overall business strategy of an organisation.
Attendees will hear from the All Saints Action Network (ASAN) about how its Reuse Hub and Wood Saints initiatives are not only helping the construction sector to minimise waste, maximise resource use and reduce carbon emissions but also providing a route to employment through training, the development of skills and building local capacity.
You will also hear from Dominic Grosvenor of Barr & Grosvenor Ltd, a local iron foundry that was recently featured on the television programme Heritage Rescue, presented by Nick Knowles, for its use of recycled materials in its regeneration projects and restoration of historical, architectural iron structures. You will hear about the company's approach to sustainability, its contribution to the circular economy and how it is exploring potential secondary uses of its waste foundry sand.
Attendees will also learn about the free support available from the West Midlands Resource Reuse Network (WMRRN) and how it is aiming to deliver cost and carbon savings for companies managing wastewater, sand and sludge waste streams by identifying reuse opportunities that divert the waste stream from disposal.
Finally, a representative from the Green Advantage Sustainability Course will provide some insight into sustainability and maintaining business performance and profitability.
This event is primarily aimed at the construction, engineering and manufacturing sectors and any SME interested in net zero, sustainability and circular economy. Companies will gain an insight into how they may begin starting their own sustainability journeys and begin contributing towards some of the 17 Sustainability Goals set by the U.N.
Come and see why the All Saints area of Wolverhampton is fast becoming a circularity hotspot, leading the way in sustainability and the circular economy. The event will also showcase the manufacturing heritage of the West Midlands and the fascinating work taking place here that is of regional and national historical importance, for example, Barr & Grosvenor's conservation of The Iron Bridge in Shropshire, the restoration of Blackfriars Bridge in London and the Red House Glass Cone in Dudley among many others. Attendees will also have the opportunity of a tour around the Reuse Hub and Wood Saints facilities at the conclusion of the event.
