WALK: Town to Marsh 'n Back

Meet at Holy Brook Nook, Brook Wy, Reading RG1 6HF at 10:30am.

Starting at Holy Brook Nook, this relaxed, friendly walk takes you to one of the area’s most biodiverse peaceful and underexplored wetland landscapes, home to an abundance of wildlife.

Along the way, you’ll hear about the cultural and ecological importance of Fobney Marsh, how the local community has taken on turning a neglected farmland into a thriving and more accessible wetland that helps to store carbon and manage flood risk, and why these habitats are essential for climate resilience in urban areas.

Ideal for: families, walkers, nature enthusiasts, local residents and anyone wanting to engage with Reading’s green spaces.

Climate focus: Demonstrates how wetlands support biodiversity, absorb carbon and protect communities from extreme weather.
