About this Event
Join us for the official Reading Climate Festival screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing film! The film will be followed by a facilitated discussion focused on Reading's response to the climate emergency.
The UK faces a growing climate and nature emergency that is already impacting our weather, the movement of people, food security, our health and the cost of living. Yet most people have never been fully briefed on what it means for our lives, our economy and our future.
This film project set out to fix that.
In November 2025, the National Emergency Briefing project asked world-leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crises to politicians in Westminster. These experts also offered powerful personal testimonies of their grave concerns and their hopes for a proportionate response. That evidence and call for action is now on the public record.
The next step is to take this vital message - via this film - across the UK, bringing local communities together to hear the evidence and discuss how to respond.
This is where you come in!
Please come along to our local screening to hear about the risks we're facing in the UK, the positive responses available to us and how to make them happen.
The film cuts through confusion and misinformation, presenting a clear, accessible overview of the climate emergency -- and what communities can do next.
The film features the original expert testimony along with 'viewer reactions' from more familiar faces like Chris Packham (who hosted the Westminster event), Deborah Meaden, Jennifer Saunders and others who gather together to discuss what they're hearing and seeing.
The screening will be followed by a facilitated discussion, offering space to reflect, ask questions and explore practical steps individuals and groups can take.
You’ll also hear about opportunities to get involved in local climate action initiatives in Reading.
Whether you’re new to climate conversations or already engaged, this event provides a powerful opportunity to understand the crisis and be part of a collective response.
