About this Event
Research on volunteerism in national parks is rare. In the 50-year history of the National Park Service’s Volunteers-in-Parks (VIP) program, there has been no systematic research undertaken about the management, motivation, or impact of volunteers serving in parks. Dr. Thomas Bryer, professor in the School of Public Administration at the University of Central Florida, will share the methodological innovations and early findings from a year-long research project where he is embedded in four parks and engaging volunteers in more than thirty national parks, including eight in Virginia.
