Vocal Health for the Vocal Athlete: Presented by Dr. Reena Gupta

Vocal Health for the Vocal Athlete - Laura Donohue Voice, Evolve Vocal Studio, and Maureen Murphy Voice Studio are proud to be hosting a workshop featuring Dr. Reena Gupta. This 2 hour workshop will focus on the basics of anatomy and physiology of the human voice. This will then be translated into athletic voice use, specifically singing. How do we apply the concepts of sports medicine and care to professional voice users to ensure their best function and performance? We will then transition into the basics of voice problems. This covers vocal injury and medical conditions that may affect the voice (i.e., allergy, asthma, chronic tonsillitis, sinus issues, hearing loss, etc). Finally, strategies for self-check and self- assessment, how to know if something is wrong, and first steps to take in these scenarios will be covered.

Dr. Reena Gupta is a Beverly Hills-based Laryngologist (ENT with specialty in Care of the Professional Voice). She is an expert in the care of vocal athletes and is one of the most sought-after physicians who cares for the singers you know and love (more on her here).

Optional scope: Dr. Gupta will also be offering stroboscopy (detailed vocal cord exams) by appointment only and is extending a special discount to our studios, so you can get a vocal cord exam / stroboscopy for a significantly lower price. Exams will be held off site at Maureen Murphy Voice Studio. ***Scopes are not included in the price of the workshop ticket. Slot times can be booked separately using the link below. You do not have to attend the workshop to book an exam.

Additional information:

Before and after the workshop, Dr. Gupta will be offering two exam options. Full stroboscopy exams may be best for those who want more time to discuss voice concerns, or feel they may have an injury or issue with their voice. The fee is $350 for a full stroboscopy exam. ***This is a separate fee and is not included in the workshop ticket price.
Dr. Gupta will also be offering stroboscopy screenings. These are quicker time slots and may be best if you do not have voice concerns, but would like to establish care and have a baseline record of your vocal cords. The fee for this is $150. ***This is a separate fee and is not included in the workshop ticket price.

We may be able to extend exam slots to Sunday, November 3, 2024. However this is not a guarantee so if you'd like to get a scope, it's best to sign up right away.
