About this Event

Tree Canada, in collaboration with the City of Calgary, is excited to celebrate National Tree Day (NTD), presented by BMO. National Tree Day connects local action to national impact—when Canadians participate across the country, we grow a movement that reflects who we are and the future we want to build. Join us at the Ted Harrison Playground to plant 500 trees and shrubs. Tree Canada experts and experienced volunteers will be on hand to support you and answer your questions. We’ll provide gloves and shovels—all you need to bring is your enthusiasm!

How you'll be making an impact

This event supports community climate resilience by enhancing local biodiversity and strengthening the park's ecological health. The newly planted trees and shrubs will provide habitat, food, and shelter for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife, contributing to a more diverse and resilient urban ecosystem. By increasing biodiversity and improving ecosystem health, the park will be better equipped to withstand environmental stresses, support native species, and continue providing essential ecological benefits to the surrounding community as climate conditions evolve.

What to wear and bring:

Volunteers should wear and bring the following:

• Water bottle
• Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots
• Long pants
• Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing
• Sunscreen
• Bug spray
• Hat
• Hand sanitizer

This rain or shine event will take place unless the forecast calls for thunderstorms or very heavy rainfall.
