Calgary Nature Journal Club: September 12th at Weaselhead Flats
About this Event
September 12th: Weaselhead Natural Area
Time: 1:30pm-3:30pm
Meeting Spot: Weaselhead Natural Area North Parking Lot (Google Maps Here, more information on parking here)
This month, we’re heading to Weaselhead Natural Area to explore one of Calgary’s most varied natural spaces through our sketchbooks.
As autumn settles in, the landscape begins to change — leaves turn, plants set seed, wildlife prepares for winter, and the colours and textures of the landscape shift. We’ll take some time to slow down and notice these seasonal changes, using nature journaling to look more closely at what’s around us.
We’ll wander through the area at a relaxed pace, stopping along the way to observe and journal. You might choose to sketch a plant, study a tree, capture a landscape, look for signs of wildlife, or simply record something that catches your attention. We’ll have prompts and reference materials available to help spark ideas, but there’s no set project to complete.
No artistic experience is required! Nature journaling is less about creating a beautiful drawing and more about paying attention, asking questions, and getting curious about the natural world.
We’ll meet from 1:30–3:30 PM, making the most of the afternoon light and the changing fall landscape.
Come prepared to explore, observe, and spend a couple of hours outside with the Calgary Nature Journal Club. 🌿🍁
