Time and Tide: Archaeology and Nature Walk

Wednesday 22 July, 10am – 11:30am and Wednesday 29 July, 5:30pm - 7pm.

Meet at the Voyage statue, Nelson Street.

Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, Africa Gomez is no longer able to join us for the Time & Tide evening event on 29 July. Peter Connelly, Humber Field Archaeology Manager, will still lead on the archaeology aspects of the tour and will also weave in the nature elements learnt from Africa. We understand that not having Africa available for the evening event will be disappointing but she will be with Peter on 22nd July event but spaces are limited

To celebrate the theme of this year’s Festival of Archaeology, which is “Archaeology and Nature”, Hull Maritime is running free guided walks exploring the wildlife and history to be found along the River Hull.

Join us for an archaeology and nature walk along the banks of the River Hull and learn about the plants and animals to be found along the lower reaches of the river with Dr Africa Gomez from the University of Hull. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, Africa Gomez is not able to join us for the Time & Tide evening event on 29 July. Peter Connelly, Humber Field Archaeology Manager, will still lead on the archaeology aspects of the tour and will also weave in the nature elements learnt from Africa.

Intertwined with nature you'll also hear from Humber Field Archaeology's Peter Connelly about the archaeology, history and heritage of the area, which will include details about Henry VIII’s fortifications that once ran along the east bank of the river.

Free activity.

Most suitable for adults, children (accompanied by a responsible adult) are very welcome.

The walking route is approximately 1.1 miles; the terrain is relatively flat; and the walk will last roughly 90 minutes. Mobility accessible to all.

Meet at the Voyage statue, Nelson Street. The walk is linear and will end at North Bridge, Great Union Street.
