About the Program
Did you know that Springfield Plaza was once the site of an airport? It was also the home base of Chicopee’s pioneering aviatrix, Maud Tait (1898-1982).
Join Sue Bousquet, a docent from the Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History, to learn what made Tait one of the defining “modern women” of the Roaring Twenties.

Find us in the Bazan Community Room, on the lower level of the Chicopee Public Library.
Free parking is available in the library lot at 449 Front Street. On-street parking is also available along Ames Avenue and Front and Bell Streets.
About the Chicopee Historical Society
The Chicopee Historical Society is a non-profit dedicated to the rediscovery and preservation of Chicopee's history. In pursuit of this mission, the Society preserves artifacts related to the city's history and presents six educational programs in Spring and Fall.
