Step into the poignant world of The Executive Functioner, a captivating musical journey with original music that explores one man's courageous quest to understand his mental health. Set against the backdrop of post-graduation uncertainties, the COVID-19 pandemic, and a late ADHD diagnosis, this show delves into the raw and introspective process of finding the bravery to confront one's challenges and try again.
Through a blend of soul-stirring melodies and heartfelt lyrics, the production highlights the courage required to navigate adulthood with ADHD, face the long-term effects of masking neurodiversity, and reconcile the complexities of medication, mental health, and “that voice inside your head”. As the protagonist confronts his past and embraces his present, audiences are invited to witness a moving narrative that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of daring to try.

At least 30 minutes before the show. Our performances start bang on time and it takes a hot second to welcome you into the building.

The Butterfly Club is a licensed venue. Accordingly, patrons under 18 are only allowed on premises in the company of a parent or legal guardian.

We strongly encourage using public transport. The Butterfly Club is a short stroll from Flinders Street station and Melbourne Central, and an even shorter stroll from any tram that travels through Swanston or Collins Streets (get off at Town Hall).
