Exchanging Sacadas for Followers and LeadersWelcome to our new cycle on sacadas — displacing your partner’s free leg and creating the illusion of a playful “kick”!
Don’t worry — no one’s getting kicked! It’s all a trick of the eye. Using timing and direction, we create the sense of the partner’s leg moving away. No shin guards required. 🙂
A fundamental element of tango, sacadas have their roots in generating dynamics within a turn. In this class, we’ll revisit those classic sacada sequences, then explore the playful exchange of leader and follower leg displacements.
Lots of energy + clear precision + new possibilities = incredible fun! 💥
Here’s what we’ll explore:
🦵 Classic sacada technique that brings more momentum into a turn (and how to make the most of it!)
🦵🦵 Where and how sacadas can be applied in your dance (hint: almost everywhere!)
🦵🦵🦵 The “equal exchange” — how one sacada can be mirrored or reversed so both leader and follower get their turn to play. This is the best part! ✨
