This 5-day experiential, residential retreat will be held at Snježna kraljica, Sljeme near Zagreb from Thursday 14 November to Tuesday 18 November 2025.The retreat will be led in both English and Croatian by Dr. David McMurtry and Valentina Petanjek and is suitable for anyone with some prior experience of mindfulness or meditation.
The “Deepening Practice” retreat is an opportunity for us to:
*Practice together in a conducive environment which lends itself to a rich and deep experience of mindfulness meditation
*Develop our understanding through shared learning. Questions to be discussed include
#At a deeper level, what is happening when we “rest in the present, with a settled mind?”
#Why is compassion an essential aspect of mindfulness?
#The 3 levels of mindfulness – what are they and when and how do we experience them?
*Learn practices that may be new to us, including compassion practices involving visualisations, and “on-the-go” mindfulness
*Engage in a variety of practices including sitting meditation, gentle yoga and mindful movement, mindful walking, gong sound baths, and practicing outdoors (weather permitting)
*Share perspectives on the impact of our practice, upon ourselves, family, community, professional lives, society and globally.
The retreat can involve approximately 50% of time in silence, meeting the requirement for the completion of the Mindfulness Association’s Teaching Skills Pathway (level 1, MBLC).
Costs
The course fee for the retreat, including all tuition, assessment and materials is €590.
Non-refundable deposit: Non-refundable deposit of €200 should be paid by September 5th.
In addition, the cost of food and accommodation varies according to the accommodation chosen, (eg single person apartment, double or triple) and travel costs. The cost of food and accommodation is approximately €284 - 416.
The price varies according to the type of accommodation selected. The accommodation should be booked as soon as possible in direct communication with the hotel Snježna kraljica.
