About the instructors:
Laine (she/her) has been dancing kizomba for let's just say a long time, and urban kiz for about seven years. She believes that the most beautiful dances feel gentle, accepting, and musical.
Rob (they/them) is a Kizomba dancer and educator with a special interest in Tarraxo and Douceur. They have the most fun being musical and connected and small 👼🏻
This week’s lesson will focus on creating smooooooth transitions between upper, middle, and lower body isolations while in close embrace. As some might already know, these kind of transitions can lead to confusion and disconnection between dancers in close embrace. Together, we will explore how leads and follows can collaborate to maintain a rolling point of connection that will lead to smoother transitions and deeper, more durable douceur connections.
This week’s lesson will focus on creating more dynamic dances in close embrace. Perhaps some of you have had dances that feel a touch repetitive? Certainly, one of the delights of Douceur can be its consistent and meditative quality. But sometimes the music or the mood calls for more. In this class, we will workshop how leads and follows can double or even triple their vocabulary simply by changing the speed or the amplitude of the movements they already know. And in doing so, create more musical, more surprising and ultimately delightful douceur dances.
