Who This Is For
Dog owners working through behavioral challenges—especially reactivity—as well as dog trainers, behavior professionals, and pet care professionals who want a deeper understanding of the relationship between movement, physiology, and behavior.
Auditing and Working Dog spots available.
Workshop Description
Behavior doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s part of a complex system where the body and brain work together to prioritize safety and survival.
When a dog is chronically stressed, physically uncomfortable, or struggling with coordination and body awareness, their ability to process the world calmly can be compromised. In other words, how a dog feels in their body can strongly influence how they behave in the environment.
Strong Bodies, Calmer Minds: The Body–Behavior Connection is a 2.5-hour interactive workshop that explores the relationship between canine fitness, physiology, and emotional regulation. Participants will learn how movement, physical comfort, and nervous system regulation influence behavior—and how simple, practical exercises can help dogs build confidence, resilience, and calmer responses to stress.
This workshop combines modern, science-based behavior principles with accessible canine fitness concepts. Through demonstrations and guided hands-on exercises, participants will learn how to help their dogs move better, feel better, and respond to challenges with greater emotional stability.
Owners will walk away with practical tools they can incorporate into everyday routines, while professionals will gain a deeper understanding of how physical state and nervous system regulation influence behavioral outcomes.
To make the most of our in-person time, participants will receive access to pre-workshop video lessons covering the lecture and educational components. This allows the live workshop to focus primarily on demonstrations, hands-on practice, and practical application with the working dogs.
Workshop Objectives
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
• Understand why dogs may react to triggers and how to set up environments that support success through thoughtful management
• Identify the major “Behavior Puzzle Pieces”: genetics, learning history, human and environmental influence, and physiology
• Recognize how chronic stress affects the canine body, including delayed recovery, muscular tension, and persistent hyper-arousal
• Understand the role of nervous system regulation in emotional stability
• Learn how physical discomfort or pain can influence behavior and stress responses
• Explore how simple movement and fitness exercises can improve body awareness, confidence, and emotional regulation
When dogs feel safer and more capable in their bodies, they are better able to navigate the world around them.
