Streets For People! Activate Connecticut Avenue on September 30
About this Event
Let's send a message to DDOT and to the next DC Mayor and Council: Streets for People!
Join WABA and community advocates to Activate Connecticut Avenue, via a group commute-time ride on Wednesday, September 30. We'll launch from Chevy Chase Circle at 8 am with destination Dupont Circle, where we'll end with a brief rally.
Why? DDOT planned Connecticut Avenue NW protected bike lanes as a safety measure, as part of a Connecticut Avenue Multimodal Safety Improvement Project... only for Mayor Bowser to K*ll the project in 2024 just when construction was about to start. Sadly, politics trumped safety. We want Connecticut Avenue NW protected bike lanes back on the District's safety agenda, hence our message, Streets for People!
Note: We plan to grab a traffic lane, so you must be comfortable riding in the street with a group. The distance is about six miles and the route tends downhill. You must wear a helmet.
