Storytelling Through Songwriting Workshop

Join musician and songwriter Kevin Matthews for a fun and creative songwriting workshop where young creators can discover how stories, memories, characters and emotions can be transformed into songs.
In this session, participants will explore how songwriters create lyrics, develop ideas and bring stories to life through music. Through simple creative activities, they’ll experiment with rhythm, rhyme and song structure while creating their own original song ideas.
Whether they’re completely new to songwriting or already love music, this welcoming workshop is designed for all abilities. No previous songwriting experience, musical training or ability to play an instrument is needed - just curiosity and imagination!
Participants are welcome to bring a notebook, sketchbook, pens or pencils, and a phone or device for recording ideas if they wish. Portable musical instruments such as guitars, ukuleles, keyboards or violins are also welcome, but no instrument is required to take part.
All guidance and additional materials will be provided during the workshop.
Suitable for children aged 7–11. Children must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult throughout the session.
