Story Seeding: Writing Rooted in the Natural World
Schedule
Sun May 24 2026 at 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
UTC-07:00Location
5941 Mason Road, Sechelt, BC, Canada, British Columbia | Gibsons, BC
We live on one of the most breathtaking coastlines in the world — we’re so immersed in it, we sometimes stop seeing it. This generative writing workshop invites you back into the garden, literally and figuratively, to slow down, look closely, and let the natural world become your muse.
Stories rarely arrive perfectly whole. More often, they grow the way plants do — from small seeds of image, memory, and observation, gradually reaching toward the light. In this contemplative and practical workshop, we'll use the garden as our classroom and writing prompts as our tools for noticing.
What you discover on the page is less important than what you discover in the process of looking. Whether you've never written a word outside of a grocery list or you've been writing for years, this workshop offers a quiet space to reconnect with the web of life around us, with your own inner landscape, and with a community of fellow observers.
Cost: Complimentary for members of the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden and Sunshine Coast Writers and Editors Society;
$25 for non-members (cash at the door).
