Stewarding Energy: Meeting the Rush with Rest
About this Event
September is here! And things are getting busy: schedules are filling, routines are returning, and suddenly there’s a lot asking for our attention at work, at home, and everywhere in between.
Come join the CIC for a sound session exploring what it means to nourish yourself with your own energy. This beginner-friendly experience offers an opportunity to pause, notice how you’re moving through this busy season, and reconnect with the ways rest can actually nourish you. Through a few simple practices and a grounding sound session, you’ll have space to slow down, settle in, and consider what you want to participate in—and what you may not—before the pace of the season decides for you.
No experience is necessary. There’s nothing you need to perform, achieve, or figure out—just come as you are, be willing to participate, and allow yourself to receive.
-------
Introduction
Sound Therapy uses a variety of instruments as an opportunity to facilitate rest, relaxation, and reconnection with yourself throughout the workday. The session is beginner-friendly: there is nothing you need to do, perform, or achieve. You’re welcome to simply arrive, get comfortable, and rest.
Most sound sessions feel calming and restorative. Some people notice a sense of relaxation or presence, while others may feel a bit sleepy or mentally quiet afterward. Because sound sessions create a pause from everyday stimulation, it’s also possible for emotions to surface — such as feeling tender, reflective, or even tearful. All of these responses are normal.
You’re always encouraged to participate at your own discretion. If you’re having a particularly intense or challenging week, you’re welcome to decide whether this feels supportive for you at that time.
The goal is simply to provide space for you to pause, recharge, and notice what arises for you.
This guide will help you prepare so you can get the most out of your session.

Before You Arrive
- Please plan to arrive a few minutes early.
- Once the session begins, the space will be closed to minimize interruptions.
- Sessions typically last 30–45 minutes, so please be prepared to stay for most of the session.
During the Session
- Silence phones and devices before entering.
- Sit, recline, or lie down in whatever position feels most comfortable.
- If you need to adjust your position, sit up, or step out quietly, you’re welcome to do so.
- While most participants remain for the full session, listening to your body is always encouraged.
- Sound therapy tools may vary in tone, vibration, and volume. Some moments may feel louder than others — feel free to adjust your distance or position as needed.
A Note on Comfort & Care
- Sound sessions are generally experienced as calming and restorative, but everyone responds differently. Occasionally, participants may notice temporary sensations such as emotional release, fatigue, or mild headaches. These experiences typically pass on their own.
- Hydrating afterward and allowing yourself a few quiet moments before returning to work can be helpful.
- The intention of each session is simply to create a safe, welcoming space to rest, recharge, and reconnect with yourself.
