Orchestral Music is Orfful:
Bring the joy and richness of orchestral music into your classroom programs! Be guided by an expert in strategies and activities that give access and meaning to orchestral music for learners of all ages.
At this workshop we will:
Engage in creative and interactive activities involving singing, saying, moving and playing
Explore connections between classical music, early years learning and movement
Make orchestral music accessible to students using rhythm and text
Enrich our teaching pedagogy through the sharing of ideas and
Enjoy gathering with like-minded colleagues
Kim Waldockhas extensive experience in both Music education and professional arts organisations across the globe,in Australia, NZ, China, Korea, Canada and the UK.
After teaching music in NSW schools for 20 years she joined the Sydney Symphony Education team in 2009, forging strong links between schools and the Sydney Symphony as well teacher professional learning opportunities.
Kim’s Australian work has included devising cross-arts resources for Opera Australia and classroom resources for the Sydney and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras, as well as being part of the writing team of the Australian Curriculum in the Arts.
In 2022 she began consulting for the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra before joining them in 2023 as Director of Artistic Development. In this current role she manages national training programs for the Australian Conducting Academy and the Australian Composer’s School, and her team deliver the TSO education and community work across Tasmania. She continues to work as an education consultant for schools and educational institutions, advising on strategy and program evaluation.
