Sip n Learn: Why Wait? The Science of Intervening Too Late
About this Event
Are we waiting until it’s too late to take mental health seriously?
Join us for an evening of neuroscience, psychology and conversation exploring a question that affects all of us, whether directly or indirectly.
Rates of mental health problems in children and adolescents are rising, yet most responses still focus on treatment rather than prevention. But what if we shifted earlier?
In this session, Dr Alex Lloyd (UCL) explores the science behind early intervention. Drawing on research in adolescent development, he will unpack why acting sooner matters, the barriers that get in the way, and how new approaches, including school-based programmes, aim to reduce risk before problems take hold.
This is part of the Mind Circles ‘Sip n Learn’ series — where evidence-based ideas are shared in a relaxed, social setting. No jargon, no boring lectures. Just interesting conversations that stay with you long after the evening ends.
