Shrove Tuesday x Lunar New Year

This year, Lunar New Year and Shrove Tuesday fall on the same day, and to mark the double celebration we’re bringing pancakes to the Studio — Asian style. For this special day, two outstanding chefs will demonstrate pancakes from across Southeast Asia.

13.30 Dominique Woolf brings a taste of Thailand with Khanom Krok, delicate coconut rice pancakes cooked in a dimpled pan until crisp at the edges and softly custardy in the middle. Dominique is known for her deep knowledge of Thai cuisine and her ability to translate intricate street food traditions into accessible, cookable dishes as she has in her latest cookbook The Asian Pantry.

14.30 Next, Mandy Yin will demonstrate Kueh Dadar, a classic Malaysian pandan scented crêpe rolled around a rich filling of freshly grated coconut cooked in palm sugar. Founder of the cult London restaurant Sambal Shiok, Mandy is a leading voice for Malaysian food in the UK. Be sure to bag tickets to her evening Lunar New Year event if you haven’t already.
