The Olivines are a very remote range of mountains West of the Divide that have an almost mythical reputation. Bordered to the south by the massive Olivine Ice Plateau the Olivine Range stretches north almost to Jackson Bay, and is home to great mountaineering and transalpine trips. Nina, with her partner James Thornton has explored this area over many years, including the Central Olivines, and Nina will talk about a number of trips to this fabled range, with some snippets of climbing history thrown in. If you’re interested in remote multi-day transalpine adventures, you won’t want to miss this!
About the speaker: Nina Dickerhof is well-known throughout the climbing and tramping community for the trips she, and her partner James Thornton, have done over many years. Meticulous research and route planning have resulted in some awesome adventures linking remote valleys and mountains, and Nina’s photos and route descriptions are an amazing source of knowledge and ideas for anyone wanting to go on a mission. If you are intending to visit some remote and challenging terrain, you can be almost certain that Nina and James have been there! NZAC have been lucky enough to have the Ōhau and Landsborough guide book edited by Nina and James.

If you want to purchase an alcoholic drink from the bar, you must show a Guest pass. You can pick one of these up inside the room we meet in where they’ll be on a table near the door.
Everyone is welcome, you don’t need to be an NZAC member to attend and entry is free.
Our AGM will also be held at the September section talk. We invite you to come along join and us for this at 7pm. Our AGMs historically take a maximum of 5minutes!
