Best of SEPA NZ Roadshow: Trail Running Symposium (CHCH).
About this Event
Learn from our accomplished keynotes Matthew Clarke (Podiatrist and 2x Olympian, Steeplechase) and Madeleine Murray (Podiatrist + Australian 1500m silver medallist and representative for Great Britain at the European Cross Country Championships). Their aim is to help you understand the unique biomechanical demands and common pathologies associated with trail running.
This is a great opportunity to enhance your clinical toolkit, network with peers and learn how to provide optimal care for your trail running patients.
Key learning objectives:
- Common Trail Running Injuries: Understand the prevalence, mechanisms, and advanced diagnostic approaches for injuries specific to the trail environment.
- Training/Gait Characteristics: Analyse the nuances of trail running gait, identifying compensatory patterns and inefficiencies that contribute to injury risk.
- Training & Load Demands in Varied Terrain: Explore training characteristics of well-trained trail runners and orienteers, highlighting similarities to road athletes. Understand unique load management strategies for varied terrain.
- Trail-Specific Footwear & Performance: Examine the evolution of trail shoe design, the impact of new technologies (e.g., foams, plates), and the biomechanical implications of using road racing shoes on trails.
