Just in time for spring, create a planter companion that’s equal parts functional and delightfully weird. In this hands-on ceramics workshop, you’ll sculpt two whimsical mandrake figures designed to nestle into potted plants and guide water straight to the roots—especially helpful for dense foliage or potted trees.
You’ll hand-build with terra cotta clay, shape expressive faces, root-like limbs, and textured surfaces, then add underglaze color to the bloom. Finished pieces will be kiln-fired and ready for pickup two weeks after class.

About the Instructor:
Molly Jo Shea is a ceramic artist, educator, and performer whose work blends function with the wonderfully weird. With an MFA from CalArts, she has taught at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art and the Walter Anderson Museum of Art. Her workshops are welcoming, story-driven, and designed for all skill levels.
