Experience the warmth and flavor of Portugal in this hands-on cooking class led by food writer and chef-instructor Shawnie Kelley. Together, you’ll explore a cuisine where bold spices, coastal influences, and rustic charm meet on the plate. This class celebrates Portugal’s vibrant spirit—from hearty land-based dishes to seafood specialties and sweet, simple desserts that capture the soul of Portuguese home cooking.

Chef Shawnie will guide you through traditional techniques while sharing the stories and culinary heritage behind each dish. You’ll cook with ingredients that define Portuguese flavor—olive oil, garlic, citrus, and peppers—and learn how to build depth and balance in every bite.

Start with Pork and Clams, a beloved classic combining tender pork, briny clams, and earthy kale in a garlicky white wine broth perfect for soaking up with crusty bread. Next, turn up the heat with Peri-Peri Pepper Chicken, where chicken thighs and potatoes simmer in a fiery roasted red pepper sauce that bursts with flavor. Watch the sauce come together in a live demonstration and learn how to recreate this traditional favorite at home.

For dessert, enjoy Orange Olive Oil Cake, a bright and aromatic finale that’s light, moist, and delicately dusted with powdered sugar—an elegant nod to Portugal’s citrus groves and sweet traditions.

What to Expect:
Classes are limited to 16 students for a hands-on, personalized experience. Participants will be standing, cooking, and working for most of the class, so please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and long pants, and tie back long hair. Aprons are provided.

Age Requirement: Open to ages 15 and up.

Cancellation Policy:
