Join the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for the 2026 San Francisco Out of the Darkness Community Walk. On Saturday, September 19, over 1000 attendees will gather at South Beach Harbor Park along the Embarcadero near Oracle Park for a free, family- and dog-friendly event. The Walk brings together people who have been affected by suicide and mental health challenges to remember loved ones, support one another, raise awareness and needed funds, and create hope.
The event will include an opening ceremony, a group healing walk, community resources, activities, and opportunities to connect with others who share a commitment to suicide prevention. Registration is free, and fundraising is encouraged but not required to participate. Funds raised support AFSP’s lifesaving research, education, advocacy, and programs for those affected by suicide throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Whether you walk individually, start a team, volunteer, or support a participant, everyone is welcome.
