Sam Ross
About this Event
Join us at The Sanctuary Studio for an evening of inventive, expressive jazz with acclaimed pianist, composer, and educator Sam Ross.
Based in Long Beach, California, Sam has quickly established himself as one of Southern California’s most compelling young jazz musicians. As both a performer and composer, he has shared the stage with renowned artists including Marcus Miller and The Funky Knuckles, and has performed and recorded alongside celebrated musicians such as Robert “Sput” Seawright (Snarky Puppy, Ghost Note), Grammy Award-winning trumpeter John Daversa, and legendary saxophonist Ralph Moore.
Sam’s original compositions and arrangements have earned widespread recognition. His composition Portuguese Bend was selected for performance by the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors at the Jazz Education Network’s Young Composer Showcase, while his arrangement of Blue in Green received a prestigious DownBeat Student Award. His acclaimed Live at the Mira Room EPs have also enjoyed significant success on jazz radio, earning praise from critics and audiences alike.
Alongside an active performing career, Sam is a dedicated educator, teaching jazz at Downey High School, Orange County School of the Arts, and Los Alamitos High School, where he continues to inspire the next generation of musicians.
This special performance offers an opportunity to experience Sam’s distinctive musical voice in the intimate setting of The Sanctuary Studio, where lyrical improvisation, masterful interplay, and imaginative compositions come together for an unforgettable evening of live jazz.
