Come and join this interactive workshop to learn cultural safe practices to support persons through grief and trauma through the River Journey.
Meet Karen Williams, a proud Noongar woman and Grandmother with 30 years of lived and community experience delivering grief, loss and trauma healing programs across New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia.
Karen holds an Associate Degree in Aboriginal Health and has delivered Aboriginal mental health first aid training. She has extensive experience facilitating group therapy as well as workshops for professionals and organisations.
She has worked with people across all age groups, including Aboriginal adolescents and communities, through her roles in residential services for vulnerable young people in Out of Home Care (OOHC), as well as in adult prisons.
With her extensive experience, Karens has developed the River Journey, a framework designed to support practitioners to deliver trauma informed therapeutic services for Aboriginal communities. This includes educating practitioners Aboriginal ways to heal using strengths based and culturally safe practices.
